Nicotine
Anonymous Northern California Intergroup Minutes
September
13, 2008
Mandana
House, Oakland
In
attendance: Keith, Ed, Melissa
Monday
Oakland: Averaging around 6-8/week lately, though was bigger
for a while. Ed is the only old-timer with multiple years who
attends on a regular basis. A handful of newcomers.
Tuesday Santa
Rosa: Averaging 8-9/week. Terry and Keith are the
regularly-attending old-timers. Newcomers have up to about 6
months.
Saturday San
Francisco: Still steady at 12-15/week. Good mix of newcomers,
people with less than a year, and old-timers.
Monday San
Francisco: Still varies between 2-6. Could use some support.
Southern
California is putting on a picnic September 21. See the scina.org
website for more info.
Keith needs to
find out if the Hayward meeting is still happening or not. Someone
wants to start a new meeting in Hayward on the same day and time.
Delegate
envelopes: Joyce emailed Keith the mailing labels for the delegate
envelopes. Keith bought stamps and envelopes, intending to do one
mailing with the envelopes and the newest meeting schedule
together. Keith will contact Michael M. about the mailing. In the
meantime, Melissa will take the stamps and envelopes to give to
Michael the next time she sees him.
Keith emailed
Catherine a few weeks ago asking if she'd sent the stuff we wrote
at the Retreat to 7 Minutes to be published.
Regular balance
as of Sept 13, 2008: $795.07 (see Ed's Treasurer's Report for
detail)
During the last
cycle we received almost $500 in 7th Tradition money;
however, for this cycle, we didn't receive any 7th
Tradition money at all. It's unusual, but it's nothing to
worry about for now.
Note: The Chip
Fund balance will always be in a negative number, because we
started out with 0. Again, nothing to worry about.
Motion made to
accept the Treasurer's Report: PASSED
The 7 Minutes
situation is still evolving. Each issue will be 12-16 pages now,
instead of 20. Both editors initially resigned, then decided to
come back. It was decided the Steps and Traditions will be printed
in every issue.
Our newest book,
A Year in Miracles, is selling very well, in the 600-700
range!
A new edition of
Nicotine Anonymous The Book is coming out. Some changes
include:
The information
in our Traditions booklet will now be included in The Book.
Our new 7th
Step Prayer (which was approved at the Conference in Novato) will
also be included.
The
Questionnaire has been condensed.
The new Book
will cost more, our first price increase in 16 years: was $7.50,
will now be $9.50.
It's at the
printers now, should be available sometime this Fall.
Regarding the
old edition of The Book: Hazelden purchased 5 cases of it
from World Services, reducing our inventory significantly.
In other news,
the Nic A World Services website will be revised.
In August,
Melissa emailed Mike B. the Intergroup minutes from November ‘07,
January ‘08, and May '08 to be posted on the NorCal Nic A
website. Those are all the minutes she currently has. She no
longer has the minutes from May '07 to Nov '07, because they
were on her old computer which died last year. Joyce has the
minutes from March '08. Melissa will contact her to see if she
can get them.
November
Intergroup meeting in Petaluma: Because Melissa will be out of
town on the second Saturday of November, the group OK'd the
meeting to be held on the following Saturday instead, Nov 15.
Keith will contact Terry to confirm.
